Objectives
Market a new generation of HDi direct-injection diesel engines

The HDi engine launched by PSA Peugeot Citroën reduces CO2 emissions by 20% compared with an old generation diesel engine and by 25% compared with a petrol engine. In addition, the engine offers excellent performance in terms of noise reduction and driving pleasure.

Prospects
- PSA Peugeot Citroën and Ford have worked on the joint production of four families of common-rail, direct-injection diesel engines, including 1.4l and 1.6l engines, a second-generation 2l engine, and a 2.7l V6, along with a new 2.2l engine family for LCVs. Also, in 2005 the two groups unveiled a new 2.2l HDi/TDCi for passenger cars.
- With this cooperation, the two partners are world leader in diesel engines. In 2007, the shared production amounted to 3.2 million engines, of which 2.1 million were produced for the needs of PSA Peugeot Citroën.
