Beginnings
In October 2003, Gefco introduced an innovative delivery service. Ten-tonne electric trucks are used to deliver goods to L'Oréal group sales outlets (chemists, perfume shops, hairdressing salons) in the centre of Paris.

Players
This project is the result of a four-year partnership between Gefco, L’Oréal, EDF (France's electric utility) and Ponticelli Véhicules Industriels (PVI), which developed the truck with the support of the ADEME (French agency for the environment and energy management).

Results
The electric trucks produce no direct pollutant emissions and no CO2. They are also silent. The trucks offer a top speed of 70 km/h and a range of up to 100 km (between 50 and 60 km in the city). These figures correspond to operating requirements for groupage trucks in the city. As the next step forward, the partners are looking at possibilities for extending this trial to other major European cities.
